Did You Know?
Troy internal medicine has a provider on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, available to you when the office is closed and on holidays. This will help avoid an unnecessary emergency room visit. Simply call the office, follow the prompts, and a provider will call you back.
Troy internal Medicine offers Saturday urgent Care hours from 9am-12pm (phones open at 8:30am), except for holidays.
Primary Care Physician Office
We offer same-day appointments for urgent care issues. If your doctor is out of the office, another provider can see you. This is the best place to get care for common illnesses, minor injuries, and routine health exams.
Call your doctor’s office if you have:
- A runny nose, cold or flu
- Rash
- Sore Throat
- Fever over 101
- Medication questions
- Headache
- Ear infections
- A mild injury/animal or insect bite
Urgent Care Center
Urgent care clinics provide care for non-life threatening medical problems that may worsen if you wait.
Hospital Emergency Room
Emergency rooms are for true emergencies. If you believe you are experiencing a life-threatening medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Call 911 or go to the emergency room if you have:
- Chest pain or pressure
- First time seizures
- Severe burn or bleeding
- Shortness of breath (sudden or worsening)
- Change in vision
- Loss of coordination
- Severe sudden pain
- Deep open wounds
- Vomiting blood
Why is Important to Visit Your Doctor Instead of the Emergency Room?
Unless it is a true emergency, patients typically receive care that will have a greater impact on their health by seeing their own doctor. In a private practice, doctors can take a closer look and manage your health. Your cost of care in the emergency room is much higher than at your doctor’s office.
“EMERGENCY” is what the emergency room treats best, usually a life threatening situation that could cause serious harm to your health if not addressed immediately.
“NON-EMERGENT” are conditions that are likely to lead to worsening health outcomes if you are not seen within 24 hours.
